Some dragons can live so long that they are functionally immortal - gathering years under their wings without showing it on their face, and Aleron is one of those.

 

He is a powerful eclipse dragon with the capability of shape shifting into a form that can pass for human, with a devilish smirk to boot.

 

In years past, he would have been entirely busy on the day of a solar eclipse on earth, especially ones that ended in totality, however he’s been well retired from that these days. He can still collect power from the energy of an eclipse, but he no longer needs to leave his companion’s side.

 

Most older dragons tend to pick a place to sleep and doze off for ages at a time, but Aleron is more alert than is typical for a dragon of his age. The years have added maturity to him, he says, and haven’t taken away his energy just yet.

 

The temptation to make a “dragons horde” joke is strong when one sees his weapons stash. Aleron loves swords and other martial weapons, the more unique the better. He collects weapons from all over the world, and keeps detailed records of where they came from, if they hold any symbolism, the value he paid for it, and other important information such as one could find in a swordsmanship museum. He’s extremely proud of his collection, and he keeps it so well maintained that it’s still possible to use many of these weapons for their original purpose, except for the very oldest or most ceremonial of the lot.

 

Aleron considers himself a world traveler, and has made the earth realms his home. He can speak a multitude of languages, and some of them are so dead that nobody even remembers their existence, and he’s happy to share stories of his travels with whoever is willing to listen. In this way, he’s a bit of a diplomat who can make bridges between people who have never met before. He has a very easy personality conductive to this, and is prone to listening closely with a warm smile on his face until he’s ready to speak. It’s quite hard to provoke him to anger, or even surprise him enough to give him the effects of “culture shock.” He’s familiar with how people are, both good and bad, and says that people of all kinds and species are often more alike than they are different.

 

Just because he’s enjoyed traveling so far in his life, it doesn’t mean that he’s expecting his companion to be a globe-trotter themselves. He’s more than understanding that humans often have more limitations to travel than spirits, and is happy to stay near his companion much of the time. In exchange for this, however, he’d like his companion to be interested in research and share this with him. More than anything, he’d like to sit down next to his future companion and read, both of you learning new things and sharing that information with one another.

 

Aleron’s draconic form is massive, and in its natural state, he is easily the size of a single-story home, though he is capable of shifting his size to fit wherever he needs to. He has dark black scales with an edge that have a subtle golden glow when the light catches them right. His claws are quite sharp, as well as his horns that are curved slightly towards the back of his head. When he stretches out his leathery wings, they cover twice the space as his person.

 

In Aleron’s “human” form, he is a tall, fairly muscled man with fairly pale skin and long black hair that falls straight down his back. His eyes are a piercing black to suit his theme, and his cutting cheekbones are a very discernible trait. While in this form, it’s easy to see how well mannered he is, as he holds himself with a subtle grace and is extremely polite in both his actions and words.

 

He is open to a romantic connection with his companion but he would prefer that to develop naturally. He tends to allow his life to flow in the direction its meant to and is looking forward to showing his companion how to allow themselves to relax and let their life develop as its meant to. Patience is a skill he has mastered over his very long life and he wishes to help his companion find peace in allowing the world move as it will.
